A little bit about me...

I’m Emily, a licensed psychotherapist dedicated to supporting you on your journey toward healing and growth. With trainings in trauma and trauma-informed approaches, I support clients working through both single-incident trauma and complex trauma stemming from childhood experiences. As someone who immigrated from Taiwan to the United States, I bring a unique perspective to my work, deeply understanding how trauma intersects with cultural experiences, life transitions, and personal identity. Whether you’re dealing with past wounds that feel stuck, navigating the impacts of childhood experiences, or working through more recent traumatic events, I offer a safe, compassionate space for your healing journey.

My Approach

I believe that everyone deserves a space where they can feel truly seen and understood. My approach combines several modalities (including EMDR, DBT, CBT, and ACT) with a deep appreciation for each person’s unique cultural background and life experiences. I help clients explore their values and make meaningful decisions that align with their authentic selves.

Why I Became a Therapist

My path to becoming a therapist began with my own experiences growing up in Taiwan, where mental health was rarely discussed. I remember the transformative moment in an introductory mental health class that opened my eyes to a new way of understanding human experiences. This revelation showed me how profoundly our mental and emotional health affects every aspect of our lives – from our physical well-being to our relationships and daily functioning.

 

This personal journey has shaped my passion for helping others discover their own path to emotional wellness. I’ve witnessed how people often struggle with relationships, work, or studies, while the root causes lie in unaddressed emotional and mental health needs. Having experienced this awakening myself, I’m deeply committed to supporting others in developing this awareness and finding tools for their own growth.
